Surrender of Indian Passport by erstwhile Citizens of India

(a) Under the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955, Indian citizens are NOT allowed to hold DUAL Citizenship. If a person had ever held Indian nationality (and Passport) and subsequently voluntarily obtained nationality/Passport of another country, he/she ceases to be an Indian national (as per Section 9 of Citizenship Act) and is required only to surrender his/her Indian Passport by filling online application https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/. The printed application form may be submitted to Embassy on all working days between 0900-1200 hrs. with a fee receipt of Euro 22. The application fee may be transferred to Embassy’s following bank account:

Documents required:
1. Duly completed form as above https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/
2. 2 Color Photograph size 2 inch x 2 inch(51 mm X 51 mm)
3. Copy of old/last Indian passport and latest Estonian passport (if already issued)
4. Original and English (notarized) copy of order issued by Estonian authorities on grant of Estonian Citizenship.
5. Address proof (Copy of Electricity, phone bills etc.)
A passport surrender certificate will be issued. It may be noted here that Surrender Certificate is a mandatory document for applying OCI. Document for Renunciation of Citizenship is not required for grant of OCI card.
